New York Isn't Nasty Anymore

Saturday afternoon David and I attended a re-election fundraiser (yes, 2014 already) for NY Governor Andrew Cuomo.
What a great speaker. Addressing the crowd specifically about Gay Marriage, Public Education, and State Pensions, Cuomo was direct and clear about equal rights, the need to fund schools, and an over-burdened state budget. It was great to see Americans happy about a politician's direct declarations. For an electorate battle-worn over doubting their elected officials and frustrated over Washington's divisiveness, Cuomo's works and words are a breath of fresh air.
I'm tired of milquetoast podium barkers who are afraid of the tough stuff in order to please every possible voter. Cuomo kicks the hard shots because, he said, "where New York goes the rest of the nation will follow -eventually."
Cool night. Thanks to Rob Coburn, Averitt Buttry for hosting the event at their beautiful 1700's home. Thank you too to the list the list of people (including Lance Bass - looking good) who hosted this simply beautiful Southampton evening.
